Most of us locals remember when Bumstead's opened in 2002. It was the first of its kind in Ozark. Located just outside the city limits on the outer road of Highway 65 between Highway CC and Highway 14, it was the first real restaurant/lounge where alcohol was served. It was our own little Cheers, with its own homemade military contraption in front (who created this anyway?), to the funny little car mounted in the air at the entrance, the cartoonish helicopter on the roof, to the historic imported bar in the back room. Until it suddenly closed in 2006. In 2008, the previous owner tried to reopen it, but the magic was gone.
That's when Patrick Lee, owner of Lee Group Construction Management & Development from Branson came in the picture. Patrick bought Bumstead's on December 2, 2008. He saw the foundation for the perfect restaurant and nightclub combined. A place where local business men and women could have lunch, and a place for the most avid dancer to boogie all night. Little by little, the license plates have come down from the walls, and they were repainted a warm, cozy color, until the interior was transformed into a calmer, more serene environment for his customers to relax.
There have been many changes, but Patrick isn't done yet. The biggest changes are yet to come. He has plans to expand the north end of the bar to add a dance floor and stage for live bands on Friday nights, and karoake on Saturday nights. He's also designing a fenced landing area off the middle bar to enjoy the outdoors on those warm summer nights. The other thing this summer will be bringing is the smoked meats! Yes, they are coming back!
His first band is debuting on Friday, January 30, 2009. Classic Reunion will be playing classic rock such as The Who, Foeigner, Stix, Van Halen, Boston, Journey and others. Power 96.5 Radio will be having a promotion as well. You can also join the Poker Tournament on Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m. If you're good enough, you might win a seat in the World Poker Tournament in Las Vegas.
Winter Hours: 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. M-T, and 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 a.m. Friday & Saturdays.
Summer Hours: 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 a.m.
Come experience the new Mulligan's for yourself. Its a taste of the old Bumstead's with a new, comfortable, progressive twist including good ambiance and good food. While you're there, try the catfish special. You won't be sorry.
