Located on the historic square in Ozark, MO, Ozark Abstract and Title has been in business since 1887, making it the oldest business in Christian County.

Ozark Abstract and Title has been my choice of title company for the past couple of years.  Shane Nelson, the Mayor of Ozark, had been the general manager for the past 3 years, but recently purchased it from Hogan Land Title.  Hogan still issues the title policies, and Shane has maintained the affiliation.

www.ozarks-realestate.comShane Neson has a deep history in Ozark, MO, and a great love for the citizens of our unique town.  I can't think of anyone with more business and personal connections throughout Ozark than Shane, which became evident when he won his first campaign for Mayor earlier this year.  There is a very genuine, down-to-earth quality about Shane that is recognizable the first time you meet him. 

The change in ownership brought a few changes, but the fundamentals remained the same.  Now there is gourmet coffee waiting for me and my clients by the front door, a flat-screen TV in the lobby, and a new secretary in the back.  But the real heart of Ozark Abstract and Title is still there, including Melissa Sixkiller, "a/k/a the Closer."  Melissa's smile and upbeat"Hey you"still greets you when you walk in, and Shane is always there to greet you and your clients, shake hands, and sit down and have a cheerful conversation while you're waiting your turn in the closing room.  The old abstracts are still laying around, and the old records are still lined up on the filing cabinets.

Closings at Ozark Abstract and Title are a unique experience, from the drive through the square, to the personal interactions and relationships, and the excellent top-notch service provided to their clients.  And it's really fun to be able to introduce your client, especially who have just moved here from out of the area, to the Mayor of Ozark at their closing.

Go Automotive - A Great Automotive Repair Shop in Ozark, MO

Being the daughter of an auto mechanic, I didn't experience what it was like to deal with auto repair shops until I was well into my '30's.  I'd heard the horror stories.  Let's face it, I don't know the first thing about the mechanics of a vehicle.  They could tell me something was needed, and I wouldn't know the difference.  I quickly discovered that finding a good auto repair shop that I could trust to look out for MY best interests was as easy as finding the Holy Grail.

www.ozarks-realestate.comAshley and Amy Gilbert opened Go Automotive in 2009 in Ozark.  I passed by their shop several times and it piqued my curiosity just because the mere fact that anyone was actually opening a new business in 2009 was a rarity.  I met Amy Gilbert in December of 2009.  She had a quirky sense of humor and a down-to-earth demeanor that instantly put me at ease.

So...when the brakes on my vehicle started squeaking, I decided to give them a shot.  They performed an oil change, took the time to explain the difference in conventional and synthetic oils, different brands, and never once pressure me for an unnecessary service.  When I picked the car up, they won my business for life....they didn't replace my brake pads because.....get this.....they were still good.  I didn't need new brakes.  They fixed the squeaking, told me my battery had died, but noticed my old one was still under warranty, sent an employee to pick up a new one, and installed it under the warranty.  All for the price of an oil change.

I know what you're thinking.  You're thinking, "No way."  And I say..."Way."  It really happened.  I haven't taken my vehicles anywhere else since.

www.ozarks-realestate.comWhat I love the most is their commitment to customer service.  As a REALTOR®, I have the worst time keeping appointments for anything personal.  I take care of my business first, then later make time for things that can wait...like oil changes.  I'm notorious for going way over the recommended mileage between oil changes.  But at Go Automotive, you don't have to have an appointment.  I can swing through in between appointments, and they race around and get me in and out as quickly as possible, because they are conscientious of my time. They've even offered to come pick my vehicle up!

Riverwalk Jazz Cafe - Now Open For Dinner!!!!

 

The Riverwalk Jazz Cafe is now open for dinner on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights!

It is located just off the historic downtown square, in a 100-year-old building which was once the home of the old Ford garage.  It's now filled with great food and music.  You can dine in the atmosphere of this charming, eclectic cafe filled with antiques and memorabilia from years gone by.  Concrete floors, high-beamed ceilings and brick walls are just a few touches of this cozy cafe that will have you coming back for more.

 

The cafe is open Monday thru Saturday from 11:00-2:00 p.m., for lunch.  They are known for their homeade soups, sandwiches served hot, and desserts.

 

The sandwiches are named for famous Jazz singers, such as:

 

Cab Calloway - A club sandwich with ham, turkey, bacon, tomato, lettuce, red onion and swiss cheese on your choice of white, wheat or croissant.

Below is the Ozark MO Real Estate Market Report for August 2011.  This month's report shows that the number of homes going under contract priced from $100K to $200K continue to increase.  The number of homes sold in the $100-150K price range reflect last month's surge in the number of homes going under contract as well.  The average number of days on market decreased, while the list-to-sales price ratio stayed relatively the same.  Great news if you're selling a home in Ozark!
