There are so many things to be thankful for...but today I'm really thankful for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving gives me an opportunity to shut everything down for one day and really focus on being with family. My father comes from a very large family in Ava, MO, and I rarely have an opportunity to see them throughout the year. Thanksgiving is a long-standing tradition in our family, and usually the only day of the year everyone can get together.
This year, our Thanksgiving dinner was held at my Aunt Dede's church. Most of the family has musical talent, and the sanctuary provided space and equipment for everyone to set up their instruments and microphones and play music for hours.
Every year, my Dad, Aunt Dede, Aunt Candy, Cousin Cindy, and Cousin Denise sing "Don't Step on Mother's Roses" as a tribute to my Grandma and Grandpa Robertson who are no longer with us. It usually results in lots of tears. This year was no different.
A couple of days ago, my son was playing around with my camera. I had no idea it was capable of recording until my son accidently recorded me. I was so happy to have a chance to capture a bit of the music today with my camera. However, I did learn a valuable lesson...it doesn't focus well when you zoom in. Sorry for the poor quality.
I hope you and your family had a wonderful, bright and memorable Thanksgiving.

I am glad you enjoy the holiday and here is a blessing of Thanksgiving to you and yours.
I recently planted a couple of peonia plants (that came across the Oregon Trail with my great-grandmother) in my front yard.
That song about not stepping on Momma's roses really clicks with me.
My sister has been hosting a Christmas Carol Sing for over thirty years..for our large extended family. Food, singing, remembering... on the second Sunday of December. That leaves Thanksgiving and Christmas for nuclear family groups.
Singing is a great family tradition.
C-Tann - Thanks so much for my first Club Chaos feature!
Elite - I hope your Thanksgiving was full of blessings for you and your family too.
Jim - I love the music at our family's Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, the memory card in my camera wasn't large enough to capture the really big "jam session." I was able to capture these two songs as everyone was coming upstairs to kick it off. Next year I'll be prepared. Your peonia plants will be treasured in your family for years and years to come. I hope you and your family enjoyed a Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi Lina, and a Happy Thanksgiving Weekend to you . . . from Seattle
Lina - My family had a wonderful Thanksgiving too! Isn't technology great? For the longest time I didn't know my video recorder could take pictures. Thanks for sharing your day!
Lina, I never heard that song before but it is lovely. Looks like you had a great celebration.
